What is Body-Centered Counseling?

Body-centered counseling combines Buddhist principles with traditional Western counseling. Essentially, this method relies on our ability to know our own truth. This truth is discovered through studying our inner-experience using mindfulness. Mindfulness is a tool for us to experience ourselves in a non-judgmental way. Using mindfulness, we feel into our emotions and our body's sensations with curiosity and intrigue. We see the ways in which we have distanced ourselves from the life we truly want to live. As we clearly see the ways in which we have limited ourselves, we are given the possibility of choosing to live differently. This results in greater awareness around our feelings, reactions and behavior, leading to an enhanced feeling of peace and wellbeing. Body-centered counseling is an efficient and effective form of treatment for emotional, physical and relational problems.

Initial Consultation

I offer an initial consultation at no charge. During the consultation, we can discuss the issues and goals that you might like to work with. The consultation is also a time for you to understand what a body-centered counseling session might look like as well as for you to ask any questions you might have. After meeting, you may decide that this approach to counseling is a good match for you and we can set up the next appointment.
